The Anecova concept is elegantly simple: enabling the fertilization and early embryonic development phases to take place in the physiological environment of the maternal womb instead of the laboratory incubator.
To make this concept a reality, Anecova has designed and tested a device that:
- Carries injected ovocytes, gametes or zygotes into the uterine cavity for fertilization and/or early development
- Maintains the embryos in the desired intra-uterine position for the required period
- Retrieves all embryos from the uterus safely and easily, facilitating morphological and/or genetic evaluation
- Allows bidirectional free passage of fluids, nutrients, endometrial cells, and other cellular and non-cellular components, to enable interaction between the embryos and the mother

The device is:
- Fully biocompatible
- Embryo tested
- Comfortable for the patient
- Translucent under direct vision, and visible by ultrasound
- Easily manipulated by both the embryologist and the gynecologist

Technologies
- The Anecova cell encapsulation technology was developed in collaboration with The Laboratoire d'Etude sur la Neurodégénérescence at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), one of the world’s few specialized labs with high-level expertise in the subject.
- To produce the Anecova device, precision manufacturing techniques were borrowed from the watch-making and microprocessor industries
- The device is produced with exceptional craftsmanship and assembled by hand in state-of-the-art facilities in Switzerland.
